The Purple Heart
Sp4 Johnny Miller entered the US Army from Kinston, North Carolina. He served
as an infantryman with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry, 196th Light Infantry in Vietnam from September 24, 1967 until he was
killed on May 2, 1968 by multiple fragmentation wounds. His death occurred in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. His name is located at panel 54E, line12 of the Vietnam
Memorial in Washington, D.C.
His awards include the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Purple Heart Medal, the
National Defense Service Medal, the
Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
