 Herman Mc Lawhorn had four sons to wear the uniform of the United States Army. They are, William Elazor Mc Lawhorn, US Army, Herman Hassell Mc Lawhorn, US Army and National Guard,  Douglas Mc Lawhorn, NC National Guard and Kenneth Mc Lawhorn, NC National Guard  sons-in law Robert J. Moore, US Army, James Gordon Simpkins, US Marine Corps; grandsons,  , Donald Allan Pate, US Army,  Wayne Hardy Pate, US Air Force , David B. Cook, Sr., US Army, grandson-in law, Glenn Spencer, NC National Guard, great-grandsons, Justin Page Beasley, current serving in the United States Air Force, and David B. Cook, Jr. is currently serving in the US Army, nephew, William Hassell Wiggins, US Marine Corps, grandson,  great-great-grandson, Matthew Cooper, served with the US Army, in Afghanistan in 2011. James Oscar Daniels, Jr. served in the United States Air Force but is not listed on the Walk.
