The Purple Heart
SP5 Daniel Howard Lawler entered the US Army from Kinston, North Carolina.
He served with the Special Forces Unit Detachment A-333, 5th SF Group in Vietnam from April 9, 1967 until he was
killed by multiple fragmentation wounds on May 20'1967. He was a Combat E
Engineer Operations and Intelligence NCO. His name is located at panel 20E, line 62 of the Vietnam
Memorial in Washington, D.C.
His awards include the Purple Heart Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam
Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
