George E. Horner was born in Gates County in 1922 and raised in New Bern, North Carolina. Drafted in 1941 and served in the Army Air Core (Air Force). He as a Radio Gunner on a B26. He was discharged in 1956. He later went on to become a doctor of Chiropractic, and practice in New Bern. Honored by Tom Horner.
