The Purple Heart
Private First Class Bobby Lee Barber home of record was Kinston, North
Carolina. He was born on June 6, 1947. His tour of duty in Vietnam began on July
21, 1967. He was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th
Infantry Division. PFC Barber was wounded by small arms fire on September 28, 1967
at Hau Nghia Province, South Vietnam. He died of wounds on November 2, 1967. His
name can be located on panel 29E, line 8.on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington,
D.C.,
His awards include the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Purple Heart Medal, the
National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of
Vietnam Campaign Medal.
